Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of the Avatec Bridge platform. By signing in to the service, or by accepting an invitation issued through it, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms.

Effective date21 September 2026Version1.1ProviderAvatec Marine

1.The service

Avatec Bridge is a fleet-operations platform that administers MikroTik-powered vessel networks over a private WireGuard mesh. The service is delivered through the web application served from bridge.avatec.com.tr and the public crew portal at /portal/* on the same domain.

These Terms cover the web application only; the commercial terms of your subscription (price, fleet size, service-level commitments, sub-processor list, data-processing addendum) are set out separately in your order form.

2.Account responsibilities

  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for any activity carried out under your account.
  • You may not share your account with other people. Each operator who needs access must be issued their own invitation.
  • You must enable multi-factor authentication and keep at least one recovery method up to date.
  • You must notify Avatec Marine without undue delay if you suspect your account has been compromised.

3.Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service to violate any applicable law, including data-protection, sanctions and maritime regulations;
  • access, probe or test the vulnerability of any system or account that you are not authorised to access;
  • circumvent the access controls, rate limits or audit logging mechanisms of the platform;
  • upload malware, viruses or any other code intended to disrupt the service;
  • resell, sub-license, white-label or otherwise commercially redistribute access to the service without a separate written agreement.

4.Availability

Avatec Marine targets continuous availability of the hub-side service but does not warrant uninterrupted operation. The service may be unavailable during planned maintenance, third-party network failures, force-majeure events, or actions taken to preserve the integrity of the platform. Where a specific service-level commitment applies, it is set out in your order form.

5.Customer data

You retain all rights in the data your organisation uploads, syncs or otherwise generates through the service. Avatec Marine processes that data only as necessary to operate the platform and as described in the Privacy Policy. You may export your data at any time using the in-app CSV exports or by written request to infotech@avatecmarine.com.

6.Camera service

This section applies where your organisation has contracted the camera service. It is in addition to the rest of these Terms and prevails over them for anything concerning footage.

Your equipment, your footage, your decision

The cameras and the recorder are yours. The footage is yours, and you are its data controller: you decide where a camera points, why it records, how long the recorder keeps it and who inside your organisation may look. Avatec Marine provides the means to reach that footage remotely and acts on your documented instructions as your processor, under the Data Processing Agreement concluded before access is enabled. We do not monitor your cameras, watch them on a schedule, run analytics on them, or use them for anything other than supporting you.

What you undertake

  • To install and operate the cameras lawfully under the law of your flag state and of the places your vessels call, including any requirement to assess the impact of the surveillance before switching it on, to inform crew and visitors, to display notices, and to consult crew representatives or unions where that is required.
  • Not to place cameras in cabins, sanitary facilities, changing areas, the ship’s hospital, or spaces given over to rest and recreation, and to mark any camera that unavoidably overlooks such a space as covering a rest area so the platform can protect it.
  • To keep at least one Company Owner account active, able to receive email and to answer requests for access. Requests that nobody answers within twenty-four hours expire, and we will treat support that depends on them as blocked until you provide an approver.
  • To tell us without delay if a camera starts covering a space it did not cover before, if a recorder is replaced, or if footage becomes the subject of a legal hold.
  • To pay for the vessel’s own connectivity. Watching a camera consumes the ship’s uplink for as long as somebody watches, and the platform is explicit about the cost of each view.

What we undertake

  • Not to open your footage without a grant that names a reason and expires by itself, and to record every such access where you can see it, whether or not you approved it.
  • To require your approval before any clip leaves a vessel and before any camera covering a rest area is opened, and to notify the master of that vessel when it is.
  • To give camera access only to named Avatec personnel who have signed a confidentiality undertaking, to withdraw it when their work no longer needs it, and to keep the list available to you on request.
  • To delete clips from the hub fourteen days after they are produced, and to return or delete everything we hold within thirty days of the service ending, on your instruction.

Speaking through a camera

Where your cameras can play sound, the platform offers a microphone to your Company Owner and to the Master of each vessel. Treat it as a public address system, not a private line: anyone near the camera hears it, and it is subject to the same notice you give your crew about the cameras themselves. The hub keeps no recording of what is said and records that it was said, with the name of whoever opened the speaker. Avatec uses it only with your access grant and only for support — commissioning, testing that a speaker works, or talking somebody through a problem in front of a camera.

What the service is not

The platform does not record. Recording happens on your recorder, and whether it happens at all depends on that unit’s configuration, its disks and its power — all of which are aboard your vessel and outside our control. The retention figure the platform shows is what the recorder reports it is holding, measured periodically and offered as information rather than as a warranty. We do not guarantee that footage of any particular moment exists, that a camera was pointing where you expected, or that a clip can still be cut from a span the recorder has already overwritten. Nothing in the service is a substitute for a bridge watch, an alarm system, or any equipment required by SOLAS, the ISPS Code or your flag state.

8.Intellectual property

The Avatec Bridge software, its source code, design, trademarks and documentation are the exclusive property of Avatec Marine. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership interest in the service. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.

7.Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Avatec Marine’s aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the fees you paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Avatec Marine is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for death, personal injury, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

9.Termination

Either party may terminate your access to the service in accordance with the order form. Avatec Marine may suspend access immediately, without notice, where continued access poses a security, legal or operational risk to the platform or to other customers; we will work to restore access as soon as the underlying issue is resolved.

On termination, your right to use the service ceases. Your data will be retained for the period set out in the Privacy Policy to honour offboarding requests, after which it is permanently deleted.

10.Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Istanbul Central (Çağlayan) courts and enforcement offices.

11.Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms when our service or its underlying obligations change. The Effective date in the header always reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to administrators by email, and continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
